Business Problem: Currently, customer relations are suffering due to a lack of collaboration and the inability to offer in-person client meetings in the current office space.
Business Goal: To improve customer relations through collaboration and skills building.
Currently, the target audience is working in isolation as opposed to collaborating with colleagues on shared clients. The target audience is currently not taking responsibility for their discourteous behaviors and their effect on clients and colleagues.
After this training, the target audience will develop and maintain a system that allows for collaboration among peers weekly. The target audience will participate in weekly skills meetings to help ensure the state of the office is conducive to client meetings.
Target Audience is 10 to 15 employees ranging in age from 25 to 35 of mixed gender, and mixed race. The employees are all single, career-minded, and computer-focused individuals.
As I looked at this issue I thought about the employee handbook and the guidance that would provide for in-office behaviors. I also took into consideration coming off an extended period of working from home and how that factored into the current state of affairs. This extended period of isolation played a contributing factor not only in the way people show up for work, but in how they work with others or don't work with others.
Knowing these things helped to guide my understanding of where the company was and where they wanted to go. Addressing the way employees show up to work was a fairly easy fix of reviewing the Code of Conduct already written in the employee handbook and just making sure all the employees knew what the standards were. The challenge was getting people to change the way they work; however allowing employees some autonomy in choosing the system that best meets their needs will aid in the successful acceptance of this return to collaboration, as will the continued reminder to do so.
